Affiliate Marketing Strategy Pt1: Website

Affiliate Marketing Strategy Pt1: Website

Step 1 Website:

Ghost Vs Squarespace ?

Create a website using Ghost.io or Squarespace as your platform. Ghost is cheap, easy to use, simple and creates a smart looking page. This is what I started with. After a recommendation from this video.

It's better for a blog based set up rather than a store/shop. I'm currently producing Pinterest and Instagram content relating to the articles I write to drive traffic to the articles with affiliate links in them.

Ghost gives you a good way to build up an email list. This is with the basic £9 a month version. I'm going to keep using it and working on the quality of my articles as I'm already happy with how they look.

The only problem is the name of the website/page - .ghost.io doesn't look too professional.

The First Problem:

Platform and Domain.

You need two things to make a website. A Platform and a Domain.

The platform options I suggest are Ghost and Squarespace. I started on Ghost because its better for blogs, simple and gives you a domain name. It gets you off the ground. Give yourself some accountability ( £9 of it). Got This Going.

I found however, that it was difficult to link the Ghost page to a better domain name (E.G .com/ .org/ .co.uk). Here I found that it was actually Squarespace you purchase the domain names from. Perhaps this would have been the best option to start then ?

To turn this my way, I've decided to also make a Squarespace website and use this page to operate on my more professional looking domain name. This way I can cross link between both my websites and run some store style pages on Squarespace too.

Next Step:

Traffic.

To make any of this work I need to drive traffic (people/views) to my articles, stores and affiliate links.

I've analyzed some successful accounts on Pinterest and modeled my content based on this. I've produced more of what's working. I try to post at least 3 times a day.

My next step is to reach out and collaborate with other pages and websites. I'm specifically looking for accounts on Pinterest similar to mine with decent but not huge views.

What can I offer them ? Mentions and links within my articles to their pages and shares and shoutouts on my social media accounts. This in return will help to build the credibility of my sites and improve my ranking on Google searches.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO):

Numbers Game.

Although traffic and clicks are the goal, my main focus is to keep improving my content. I'm focusing more on growth and providing value than monetizing at this early stage.

I'm concentrating on reviewing and understanding the best preforming examples I find online and producing better. I need to lay out my articles in effective way and find new and niche content I'll be more likely to rank for on google.

Now I just produce articles and content on subjects I enjoy. Have fun with it. Let it build over time. Trust the process and continually improve it. Build affiliate links and stores as I go on.

Inspirations:

Traffic to Money.

The first source of information I started to trust and pushed me to this point was a Youtube channel called Adam Enfroy. The first step is always the hardest to take. Making the website seems scary but in reality it's simple and opens all the doors for you.

Adam's channel showed the importance of making the website first. This is the corner stone of your operation and holds you accountable. The website is how you actually turn views and clicks into money.

How often do you actually buy something on Instagram ? This is where the traffic is generated. However, the money is made on websites rather than social media. The website is up and it's flying.
